Sonya Lennon’s Bargain Hunting Tips

Off the Rails presenter Sonya Lennon

General Bargain Tips

Take a deep breath and relax.

The less money you have to spend the more time you have to invest.

Think of bargain hunting as a hobby, not a mission.

Have an open mind, you never know what you’ll find.

A bargain is only a bargain if you’ll use it.

Acid test -Would you buy the item if you added a zero to the end of the price?

Does the item suit your colour palette / skin tone / body shape?

Check for known labels.

Check for quality fabrics, silks, wool, cashmere etc.

Charity Shop Tips

Give yourself at least half day.

Find out when new deliveries are put out.

Often charity shops group together, do the whole run.

Look for quality merchandise.

Offer to volunteer, you can’t beat insider information!

Outlet Shopping Tips

Be prepared, bring a trolly.

Don’t be victim to bargain hunter’s remorse, if you like it put it in the trolly.

Search by eye not by touch. Train your eye to spot good fabrics and rich colours.

Work the whole store before you try anything on.

When you’ve covered the store, do an edit.
