The art world lost one of its greatest modern masters yesterday with the passing of Lucian Freud at the age of 88. The London-based artista grandson of Sigmund Freud and father of the English society maven Bella Freudwas famous for his warts-fat-and-all depictions of his subjects, often in the nude. The Sarah Burton-designed wedding dress of Duchess Catherine (ne Kate Middleton) will go on view at Buckingham Palace tomorrow as part of the exhibition The Royal Wedding Dress: A Story of Great British Design. The frock, which Burton calls a feat of engineering, will be on display with the brides lace-covered McQueen shoes, Cartier Halo tiara, and the silk tulle veil the bride wore on the big day. [WWD]
