2012 Golden Globe Awards Red Carpet Pale Dresses

Going through the pictures of the 2012 Golden Globe Awards Ceremony, I noticed something was sticking out as a trend on the Red Carpet. Did you see how many pale, soft colored dresses were in attendance?

White, white with a hint of pink, white with a hint of gray, white with a hint of peachy, white with a hint of whatever, you name it, it was there tonight! Everyone was wearing floor length dresses , flowy fabrics, simple designs . We already admired one of the pale fans tonight: Angelina Jolie. Her pinkish white was lovely but my absolute favorite was Elle Macpherson. Elle’s gorgeous Zac Posen dress stole my heart!

Also a risk taker is Charlize Theron in Dior. Loved everything about the lady and the gown! Simply spectacular! Sarah Hyland was also among my best dressed for the night. The Modern Family star was flawless in Dolce Gabbana. Effortless and elegant.

Versace’s white – gray gold studded dress was somewhat of a surprising choice for Nicole Kidman. I don’t really see her as a Versace girl, but anything’s possible, especially when you have a body like Nicole’s! Kate Beckinsale’s pale Roberto Cavalli strapless gown flattered her body and complexion. As always, Kate is a stunner on The Red Carpet! A special mention for Octavia Spencer’s soft lilac Tadashi Shoji dress: I loved the bejeweled draped front, I loved Octavia’s grace and the way she was wearing that dress on the Red Carpet! She was nothing short of fabulous!

To my greatest surprise, Heidi Klum opted for a very simple, almost austere gown from Calvin Klein. She lifted it by accessorizing it with teal chunky jewelry and her lovely smile. There wasn’t anything particularly wrong with her look tonight, but I can’t say I loved it either. So I’d go for a polite “ok”. Pretty much the same category as Kristen Wiig’s nude Bill Blass waist knotted dress. I’m sorry Kristen, but you look like you forgot your dress at home! I love you to pieces, but please wear something brighter? Funnier? Amy Poehler’s Naeem Khaan pale number could’ve been so much better! Instead it’s lifeless. Sometimes, keeping it simple, can also sink you into ordinary.

Jessica Alba, as always, she goes for a dress a little on the purplicious side. Pale, sure, but with touches of lilac. The Gucci strapless gown with sparkling embroidery was amazing on Jessica Alba. Just as we’d expect from her! Welcome back on the Red Carpet, Jess! And another Jessica, Jessica Chastain this time, who was ethereal in white Givenchy. Interesting choice of hairdo, though. Too undo in my opinion for that beautiful dress! What would you expect from a white Marchesa dress? Nothing less than flawless! And such is the case with Shailene Woodley’s Marchesa gown or for Katharine McPhees sparkling light beige dress! Standing ovations also for Mary J. Blige’s Michael Kors pale dress and for her glamorous hairdo! Perfection! A very special mention for Julie Bowen’s retro diva look – such an inspired choice of dress and hair!

Pale gone wrong is written allover Taissa Farmiga’s Vera Wang dress and on Connie Britton’s cocktail dress. As for Andrea Riseborough’s Vivienne Westwood corset dress – I just don’t know where to put it – it looks too much like a curtain and as much as I appreciate Dame Viv’s design or Andrea’s beauty, I can’t understand this dress. I also need a little help in digesting Jessica Biel’s white lace dress! Slipping into bridal was the lovely Amanda Peet too. There’s little to add about her dress That’s the soft coverage for the dresses I stumbled across – please don’t hesitate in adding more to the pale parade!
